Plenty Mind
We talk about being "enough" and knowing we were always "enough."
Well, that's no longer
(sigh)
enough for me.
What I long for is a sense of plenty-
not “having it all”
because that feels
like too much to fit into my carry-on.
Plenty feels like choice.
Freedom.
Decision.
Spaciousness.
When there is plenty of time, there's no rushing out and forgetting your phone charger
that you replace at the airport kiosk
when there aren't any scissors to open it.
When there's plenty of love, there's no temptation to
spend even one more second with that guy who drips water in the bathroom floor-
presumably because he doesn't see the hand towel that's there for that reason.
When there's plenty of money, there's not much 3 am time wondering
how you might sell it all with a do-over
and stop lying to yourself.
When there’s plenty of health, there’s no denying
that your body is crying for movement and water
and your consistent playful attention.
This sense of plenty changes everything
and
strips away the trace of separation.
We’re left with reckoning with what matters to us.
When Plenty takes residence
there's only space and expansion…
& delicious possibility that today contains
the just right amount
of love, play and work to
feel like a
Life Well-lived.
That this breath might feel sacred
and the next one too.
This sense knowing
that there's nothing to DO
to earn it.
Plenty lives in the space
where we’ve cleared away the clutter
enough to rest in it.
Plenty doesn't come from hustle.
She arises from grace and ash.
Plenty stands in the bravery of walking away from anyone
and anything
who creates
a scarcity-sized hole
with words of not enough.
She chooses not to hear
those edicts
(even from her own head)
any
more
Plenty knows the sweet & simple expanse of
time
money
health
love.
She happily skips alongside into the sunshine of
this plenty-sized path that's yours to walk.
