sanctuary.jpg

This photo was taken by my daughter at the beautiful sanctuary at Chimayo’ in New Mexico.  It’s such a holy place and I didn’t realize her intent with this photo. I’ve always gravitated toward places like this in my travels and it was a beautiful early Sunday morning.  On my walks in the last week, I’ve been thinking about how to recreate that sense of sanctuary and then realized that the walks themselves are just that.  Pretty simple.

Sanctuary Found

Breathe, my dear.

Listen closely to your own heartbeat.

You were always just this loved-

Always without requirement.

There is nothing more for you to do

And no one else to be-

Seeking only the softness in your strength

And opening to your own soul’s longing.

Listen for the stirring of your own Desire.

What’s next?

What is possible now?

Carve your own path, my love.

There aren’t rules or even trail markings sometimes-

Find the road that feels the most like freedom

And tastes the most like Joy.

Sing your own song, my love-

Out loud

While dancing barefoot in the summer grass.

Listen to the sound of your own voice and

Know the lyrics of your own longing.

Be brave enough to ask

And vulnerable enough to ask for even more.

Author the words of your narrative with

Big love and even bigger curiosity.

Find Faith, my love,

See the signs of Grace everywhere-

From the smell of desert creosote to the

Particular hush of the chapel on the hill.

Create your own Sanctuary where you find it.

Surrender to your sense of wonder-

Always willing to see what others may miss in haste.

Find simple peace in this moment and then the next one.

Look for doorways, my love.

They are always present even when not visible on

that first walk past-

Each opening a means of passage into deeper knowing.

Walk through, my love.

Just take a deep breath and walk on through.
