On Being Brave-ish
Recently I was preparing for a retreat with Regena Garrepy, where we were instructed to share with the group some type of creative offering.
I won’t reveal the secret sauce of her magical retreat, but it started me thinking about how I often will share writing by email, blog or post…. without going that next step toward reading the words out loud.
I noticed that’s a pattern of being brave-ish, but not fully putting it all on the line.
So for this retreat I committed to reading my poetry out loud and using my voice along with my heart.
What a magical experience to receive so much support from other women who were being brave alongside of me!
I am forever grateful for the nudge toward giving voice to what I wanted to say out loud.
Here are the words that brought us together.
You are Seen
Step in, dear one.
Walk into this light where you are seen
Where you are loved-
To this place where your beauty is reflected in our eyes.
Where your soul’s calling card
Is cast fully into the ring.
Stand before us
Knowing bone-deep that we recognize you
As you truly are-
The softness and strength of your wise woman
Created from flame and ash-
Borne from this walk of your life.
Speak your words-
The ones that matter to you-
The ones that need to be said out loud-
Without censor, without fear-
Letting your wild heart out to play.
Dance your own dance-
Without judgment, without story-
Expanding into the full weight of your worth.
Allowing us to witness the joy of who you’ve always been.
Step in, dear one.
To this place where you are only required
to be Real.
only required to breathe your Magic into this world.
Only required to see your own Divinity
Laid bare with your heart’s offering.
So with this- my offering-
I see you with loving eyes
And
I am here to be seen, to stand in my essence
And not walk away.
